I’ve had the pleasure of working privately with Sarah for the past 6 months, and I can honestly say it’s the strongest I’ve ever felt in my body! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine holding a handstand or being super close to a chin up! The surprising benefit of this work has been the ongoing improvement in my mental well-being... as someone once said “strong body = strong mind.” Sarah’s style of work has also questioned me in how I teach yoga and I now find myself in a position where I’m more focused on my clients alignment, integrity in postures and above all safety!

Sarah has a warm and down to earth presence, always encouraging but never forcing! We are lucky to have her here in Cork!! She’s a bleedin’ legend :-)

Having been a yoga practitioner for 17 years, and a yoga teacher for 12, it’s safe to say that yoga is my passion. I have studied with many of the top teachers in the yoga world in trainings, workshops and classes (and benefited hugely from them), but nothing has been quite comparable to the tailored, informed teachings that Sarah offers.

I had felt a plateau and lack of progress in my practice, and after a lot of searching online for resources and inspiration that wasn’t quite cutting it, I reached out to Sarah for private sessions. Even with the wealth of information we have access to online, no article or youtube video can compare to having an experienced teacher be present with you, observe how your body moves, and really see the patterns that you are holding.

Sarah brings a fresh eye, a different perspective and a wealth of knowledge to my practice. Her understanding of how the body works is fantastic, but what makes her teaching stand out is the easy way that she conveys it to the student. From a yoga practitioner and teacher point of view, the fact that she is a yogi at heart makes her teaching so relevant and applicable to both my practice and my teaching.

The work we have done together is the push that I needed to take my practice and teaching to the next level. She has reignited my passion for yoga, helped me find a new perspective in my practice, and a new understanding how my body works. Sarah is helping me believe in my strength, and that is a belief that carries over out of the gym and off the yoga mat, into my life. I really am the better for having started training with her.

I got to know Sarah when I attended her handstand workshops and participated in a movement course she was running in Cork. As a yoga practitioner and teacher, I was initially drawn to Sarah’s classes by a curiosity to explore other types of movement, and to enrich my own practice and teaching by improving my strength and body awareness.

Sarah’s teaching style works for me because, not only is she knowledgeable, attentive, and focused, she is also down to earth, encouraging, and fun to be around. As someone who teaches a lot, it’s great to find a coach who I totally trust and feel comfortable with. When I’m training with Sarah, I go fully into learning mode. She holds space so well and I feel completely supported and in good hands when I’m working with her.

One thing I particularly appreciate about Sarah’s approach is that, given her yoga background, she really understands yoga as a practice. This has been invaluable in helping me to fit training around my yoga practice, and in helping me to see the crossover and harmony between yoga and other forms of movement.

Since I’ve been going to Sarah’s classes, I have become more aware of my own body and how it moves, and learned to use mobility and strength training to enhance my yoga practice. I have also grown in confidence and knowledge as a teacher since working with Sarah.

I’d highly recommend training with Sarah. She is a fantastic teacher and a lovely person, and I’m lucky to call her a friend.

Sarah is a knowledgeable awesome teacher. It’s obvious from her classes that she has a ton of experience and is very passionate about what she does. She has a way of making everyone feel at ease and is great at teaching within individual needs. I would highly recommend her classes or private coaching.

Before I came to Cafe Move I was unfit and struggling with a hip injury that allowed me no less than 10-15 minutes of walking without pain. What upset me the most was the fact that I couldn’t get up off the ground quickly enough to run after my two year old grandchild when she needed me. Heading into my 60s, I knew I needed to make some changes but was afraid of doing more harm than good on my own.

Working with Sarah was a lot of fun and I made progress much quicker than I expected. I found her to be patient, attentive, thorough, highly informed and skilled. She customized movements and exercises to suit my specific needs, adjusted and built on them as I progressed and stayed focussed on the desired outcome. I would highly recommend Sarah… I still get a buzz every time I get up off the ground as quickly as I need to, and without pain!

Sarah trained me in ways that were just right for me. She is a keen and compassionate observer. She combined this with incredible depth and breadth of knowledge to help me toward a practice that I could both love and sustain. As an added bonus, we always found something to laugh about because, after all, the most serious training has to be fun. Sarah basically just gets it. And she cares.

After attending a couple of Sarah’s Movement Labs at Spirit Loft, I instantly loved her energy, positive vibes, (and her class!), and signed up for personal training with her right away. I worked with Sarah for over a year, and I’d still be her client today if she hadn’t moved to another continent!

What I love about Sarah:
She is always prepared. My programs were customized to my goals, and I felt incremental progress each week which I found really motivating! I loved that Sarah introduced a variety of tools to work with to challenge me as well as and make our sessions fun and interesting (from locomotive movements, to kettlebells, coordination work, rings, parallettes etc). Sarah takes the time to assess, and reassess, to ensure that you have the prerequisites before working on specific goals (i.e. I can now perform a pistol squat)! Sarah is excellent at giving verbal cues to help you understand how it feels to properly perform a movement. Her passion for what she does is inspiring - her knowledge and pursuit of continuous training/fitness education is constantly evolving, which of course benefited me! It is because of Sarah I always do mobility work before I start a workout, and train with intention and mindfulness. I really appreciated that Sarah was “present” and engaged throughout every training session we had, and I loved that I always left feeling strong, confident, and unstoppable!

Above all, Sarah is truly wonderful. She is one of the nicest, most generous and down-to-earth people I have come to know and happy to also call a friend.

I’ve been training with Sarah for 6 months. She is an absolutely outstanding coach. She shows great understanding of ones needs and sets attainable goals after a thorough initial evaluation. She is excellent at recognizing progression and refocusing my programme to help me overcome weaknesses in a step wise and achievable manner. She is also so pleasant, always punctual, and a really great person. I’m so glad I met Sarah and signed up for coaching. I can feel I’m making great progress towards my ambitious goals (muscle up, pistol squat, planche & levers), and recently noticed how much more power I have behind my golf swing!

When I came to Café Move, I was still struggling with an old rugby injury in my ankle that had started to create other problems and imbalances in the rest of my body. I had given up contact sports (due to shoulder pain and ankle instability), and invested in a variety of specialists and manual therapists to treat the issues, but none of the treatments seemed to work long term. At 28 years old, I had an increasing amount of tension and pain in my neck, very little ankle stability, and I would feel pain in my hips after walking for long distances.

After 5 months of working with Sarah I have already seen great results in my ankle stability and range of motion, I no longer have shoulder pain or unnecessary neck tension, or hip pain when I walk. Thanks to Sarah’s coaching I am much more aware of my own body, and how I move so that I can correct myself when I feel I’m falling into old habits and patterns that weren’t serving me.

Sarah is very dedicated to her clients. She comes prepared, she pays really close attention to the details, and spends the time needed to help you understand the movements. If you have difficulty, she won’t give up on you!

I still have a long journey ahead, but I know that with my hard work and Sarah’s guidance we will get there.

Wonder Woman ain’t got nothing on Sarah Anderson. Her adaptability to specific needs/training requests, confidence-boosting morale, and just downright genuine love for her clients and work are but a few things of a long list that I can mention about her. I trained with Sarah for over a year and a half, asking her to help me jump higher and strengthen the weak stabilizer muscles in my ankles, amongst other requests. As a stunt performer and fight choreographer, my work requires a lot of physical demands and stress on my body. Since we started working together, I not only improved my vertical skills and overall trust in my capabilities, but even with the things I could do before, I can now perform them better and with more confidence. I continue to learn new skills and set new goals because together we created doors for me and opened them wide! Sarah is a champion trainer and human being.

I trained with Sarah for a few months with the goal to improve my lower body mobility. It was one of the few times I have participated in a specifically focused training with her. I mention this because it goes to show her versatility and vast body of knowledge and skills that she has/is as a trainer, teacher, and probably most importantly, a human.

Whether it’s mobility, strength training with weights, locomotion, gymnastic ring training and so on, Sarah is a trainer that truly embodies movement culture - a multi and interdisciplinary trainer/teacher that knows and uses a variety of tools and methods in her role as a trainer/teacher.

In my case, with her guidance and help, within a few months I was able to regain/reclaim my deep squat. Sarah definitely delivered what I had hoped for during my time with her, and I am ever grateful to her for helping me achieve that goal.

Sarah embodies a persona, a spirit if you like, of patience and compassion that I haven’t experienced with other trainers/teachers. She creates a space in which you feel safe and comfortable enough to express yourself (verbally and physically) as you enter on that journey with her...all the while providing a level of encouragement and support that I found most valuable during my time training with her. She is also super enthusiastic when you begin to see results and progress towards your goals!

Finally, I discovered that Sarah does not approach the teacher/client relationship as one that is based on a hierarchy, a top down passing down of information/guidance. She approaches it from a shared experience where the teacher learns from the so-called student. From my experience, Sarah always embraces the beginner’s mind.

I am 55 yrs of age and have been involved in various kinds of sports and exercise most of my life. In recent years life circumstances have led to day to day life becoming somewhat sedentary. This led me to investigate a different way of training and keeping the body fit & strong. I had been observing the growth/progress and general philosophy of Cafe Move and because I liked what I saw and believed it would suit me as a training regime, I joined. Through my involvement with Cafe Move I met Sarah Anderson and subsequently worked with her as both a Personal Trainer and a Class Facilitator. Sarah who is clearly very experienced, accomplished and confident in all the training exercises and moves she teaches and has a manner of training which is helpful, encouraging, motivating, insightful, pragmatic, clever and gentle too where gentleness is required. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sarah as a competent and professional Personal Trainer and Class Teacher. I for one wish I could spend more time in her amazingly insightful company.

Sarah, from the beginning your energy and attention has been motivating and liberating. With your encouraging voice and mindful attention I was able to go beyond any expectations I had for myself. You are a constant booster, pushing me through the challenges and encouraging me to tap into and build on my own strength and power. Your enthusiasm for the body and all its abilities made the work feel possible and tangible, and the breakthroughs were many. Anyone who gets a chance to work with you should be prepared for a wonderful experience.
— Courtney Roy

After two cancer-related surgeries, I had a lot of strengthening work to do on my shoulders and upper back. Sarah was the most supportive, encouraging and effective trainer I could ever have asked for. And she brought a special empathetic touch to the emotional challenges tied to my progress. She’s a great inspiration and motivator to work hard!
— Gill Deacon

My work with Sarah has been transformative in many ways. I truly believe that one of Sarah’s many gifts as a trainer is her ability to change a person’s relationship with their body. We live in a society where we are taught to think that our minds and bodies are two separate entities; Sarah’s training philosophy takes the opposite approach. With the use of breath and inner focus Sarah reminded me how my mind is my strongest muscle. By cultivating a union of mind and body Sarah made me aware of muscles and strength I didn’t know I had. I reached a level of strength with Sarah that I didn’t think was possible. Her ability to honour my body’s current limits while pushing and challenging me forward are what ultimately made me see results in such a short amount of time. Training with Sarah has given me nothing short then a renewed connection to, and love for my body! In addition to being a highly skilled trainer, Sarah is the most amazing and lovely person to work with. I can not say enough about Sarah and I highly recommend her to anymore who wants to fall back in love with their body while getting strong and toned in the process!
